All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to Emmet Africa and will only be effective upon our written acknowledgement.
The following cancellation charges apply, calculated as a percentage of the total Safari cost:
Certain components, including but not limited to gorilla and chimpanzee permits, charter flights, and international airfares, are 100% non-refundable from the time of booking, regardless of the cancellation date.
Some Service Providers may impose stricter cancellation policies than those outlined above. Where this occurs, the stricter policy will apply, and any additional charges will be passed on to you.
No refunds will be provided for unused portions of your Safari, regardless of the reason, including but not limited to early departure, missed activities, or unused accommodation.
Emmet Africa reserves the right to make minor changes to your Safari itinerary at any time. Minor changes include alterations to accommodation of a similar standard, activity timings, or routing that do not materially affect the overall Safari experience.
In the event of a significant change to your Safari, we will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable and offer you the choice of accepting the altered arrangements, booking an alternative Safari of comparable value (subject to availability), or cancelling with a full refund of all monies paid.
Emmet Africa shall not be liable for any incidental expenses you may have incurred as a result of any booking change or cancellation, including but not limited to visa fees, vaccinations, non-refundable airfares, or other travel arrangements made independently.
It is a condition of booking that all Clients obtain comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure. Emmet Africa reserves the right to cancel your booking if proof of adequate insurance is not provided upon request.
Your travel insurance must, at minimum, provide cover for:
We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased at the time of booking to ensure coverage for cancellation from that date. Emmet Africa is not liable for any expenses arising from inadequate or lack of travel insurance.
It is the sole responsibility of the Client to ensure that all members of the travelling party hold valid passports, visas, and any other documentation required for entry into all countries included in the Safari itinerary.
Passports should typically be valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of departure from the destination country and have sufficient blank pages for visa stamps.
Entry requirements can change at short notice. We recommend you verify all requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates prior to travel.
Emmet Africa accepts no responsibility for any delays, expenses, or other consequences arising from a Client's failure to have proper documentation.
Clients are responsible for consulting with a qualified medical professional or travel health clinic regarding vaccinations, prophylactics (including malaria prevention), and other health precautions required or recommended for travel to Africa.
Certain countries may require proof of Yellow Fever vaccination for entry. It is your responsibility to verify requirements and obtain necessary certificates.
Clients must disclose any medical conditions, disabilities, allergies, dietary requirements, or mobility limitations that may affect their ability to participate in the Safari at the time of booking. This includes pregnancy.
Safari destinations are often remote, and medical facilities may be limited or unavailable. Evacuation in medical emergencies can be time-consuming and expensive. Adequate medical evacuation insurance is essential.
Emmet Africa accepts no liability regarding the provision of medical advice or medical care, nor for any health-related incidents that occur during your Safari.
Safari travel involves inherent risks that cannot be entirely eliminated. These include, but are not limited to:
Most safari camps and lodges are unfenced and located within Wildlife Areas where animals roam freely. Guests must exercise extreme caution at all times and follow all safety instructions and briefings provided by guides and camp staff.
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Animal behaviour is unpredictable and natural, and Emmet Africa makes no representations regarding specific wildlife encounters.
By participating in the Safari, you acknowledge that you understand and voluntarily accept these inherent risks.
Emmet Africa acts as an agent for various independent Service Providers who provide accommodation, transportation, guiding, activities, and other services. Emmet Africa is not responsible for any acts, omissions, or defaults of these Service Providers or for any injury, death, damage, loss, delay, or additional expense caused thereby.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Emmet Africa shall not be liable for:
In no event shall Emmet Africa's total liability exceed the total amount paid by you for your Safari.
Clients may be required to sign an Indemnity, Waiver, and Release form prior to participating in safari activities. Failure to sign such forms may result in exclusion from certain activities without refund.
By booking a Safari with Emmet Africa, you agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Emmet Africa, its directors, employees, agents, and affiliated Service Providers from any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or relating to your participation in the Safari, except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
This release and indemnity extends to and shall be binding upon your heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.

In the event of Force Majeure, Emmet Africa may cancel, postpone, or modify your Safari. We will endeavour to offer alternative arrangements where possible, but shall not be liable for any costs, damages, or losses arising from such events.
If you choose to cancel due to Force Majeure conditions, standard cancellation charges may apply unless otherwise agreed.
Clients must conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times and comply with all local laws, regulations, and customs of the countries visited.
Emmet Africa reserves the right to terminate, without refund, the participation of any Client whose behaviour is deemed disruptive, dangerous, or detrimental to the safety, wellbeing, or enjoyment of other guests, staff, or the Safari operation.
Clients agree to follow all instructions given by guides regarding safety, wildlife interactions, and conduct in Wildlife Areas.
Should you have any concerns during your Safari, please raise them immediately with your guide or the lodge/camp management so that we have the opportunity to address them on the spot.
Any formal complaints must be submitted in writing to Emmet Africa within 28 days of the completion of your Safari. Complaints received after this period may not be considered.
Emmet Africa will investigate all complaints and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Emmet Africa and our Service Providers may take photographs and videos of guests during Safari activities for promotional purposes.
If you do not wish to be photographed or have your images used, please notify us in writing at the time of booking.
Emmet Africa collects and processes personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Your personal information will be used to process your booking, provide the Safari services, communicate with you, and comply with legal obligations. We may share your information with Service Providers as necessary to deliver your Safari.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
No failure or delay by Emmet Africa in exercising any right shall constitute a waiver of that right.
These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and Emmet Africa regarding your Safari and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
Emmet Africa reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in effect at the time of your booking will apply to your Safari.
By making a booking with Emmet Africa, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions on behalf of yourself and all members of your travelling party.
